An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 on the Richter scale was felt in multiple regions of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad on Wednesday. The United States Geological Survey reported the quake at a magnitude of 5.4, affecting areas in India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.
Cities in Punjab such as Islamabad, Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, and many others were affected, while areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Peshawar, Swat, and Dera Ismail Khan also felt the tremors. The earthquake, originating at 12:28 pm Pakistan Standard Time near the Dera Ghazi Khan region, had a depth of 10 kilometers. Additionally, mild tremors were felt in parts of India as well as in Afghanistan.

These recent tremors occurred just two weeks after a 5.4 magnitude earthquake on August 29 in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and KP, preceded by a 4.7 magnitude quake in June. Earthquakes are not uncommon in Pakistan, given its location on the boundary of the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates.
