Supreme Court Reserves Verdict on ECP’s Challenge to LHC’s Order for Election Tribunals in Punjab

The Supreme Court of Pakistan is yet to announce its decision on the Election Commission of Pakistan’s petition against the Lahore High Court’s directive to establish election tribunals in Punjab. During the hearing, Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and a five-member bench raised questions about the tribunal formation and emphasized the importance of aligning the number of tribunals with the caseload.

The court also criticized media misreporting of legal proceedings and stressed the need for full implementation of the constitution. The judgement on the election tribunal case is expected to be announced soon.
