On the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, emphasized the essential and irreplaceable role of women in the fields of science and technology. She declared, “The role of women in science and technology is not just necessary but indispensable for progress.”
In her special message, the Chief Minister outlined the Punjab government’s initiatives to empower women and girls by equipping them with modern scientific and IT skills. She stated, “We must ensure that our daughters are well-versed in modern sciences and IT to drive future progress. The Punjab government is taking tangible steps to promote women and girls in scientific and technical fields.”
Maryam Nawaz Sharif highlighted the impact of the Honhar Scholarship Program, through which thousands of female students are provided full tuition fees, particularly in science-related disciplines. She assured that no girl’s aspirations in Punjab would remain unfulfilled due to a lack of resources.
She also discussed the Laptop Scheme, aimed at providing female students with access to modern technology. “This initiative ensures that our daughters can enhance their educational and professional skills. With the help of advanced IT training programs, women are increasingly securing prominent roles in the global digital market,” the Chief Minister added.
Further emphasizing her commitment to digital inclusion, CM Sharif mentioned the Free Wi-Fi Program launched in Lahore, aimed at providing internet access to the public, with special benefits for female students. She concluded, “Pakistan’s progress is intrinsically linked to the advancement of women. We are committed to offering every possible facility to help our daughters excel in science, technology, and IT, keeping pace with global standards. Our vision is to create a Punjab where women are not left behind but lead the way in development.”
