General Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), met with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on his first official visit to the Gulf country, following a statement released by the Private News Agency on Tuesday.
During the discourse, the two sides also discussed ways to expand military affairs to serve the common interests of the two friendly nations, according to the private news agency.
“The two sides discussed cooperative connections and collaborative work between the UAE and Pakistan in defence and military issues, as well as methods to strengthen them to serve the mutual interests of the two friendly nations,” in accordance with the statement.
The UAE president welcomed Gen Munir at Qasr Al Shati Palace.
President Nahyan congratulated the army chief on his appointment and wished him well in his new responsibilities to serve his country and people. As reported by the Republic Policy News, Gen Munir conveyed his gratitude and appreciation to President Obama for congratulating him.
