ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas on Sunday to discuss the rapidly changing security situation in the Middle East, with both leaders stressing the importance of preserving the ceasefire and maintaining diplomatic engagement.
According to the Foreign Office, the two sides reviewed recent regional developments and exchanged views on efforts to promote peace and stability. Kallas appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic role, particularly its efforts that led to the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
She also voiced concern over recent violations of the ceasefire agreement and emphasized the need for all parties to keep communication channels open to prevent further escalation.
During the conversation, Dar briefed Kallas on Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic initiatives aimed at developing a comprehensive framework for lasting peace and stability in the Middle East. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for dialogue and called on all sides to fully respect the ceasefire agreement to avoid worsening tensions.
Both leaders agreed to remain in close contact and continue consultations as the regional situation evolves.
