Dozen Injured in Toronto Pub Shooting, Police Hunt for Three Suspects

A shooting at a Toronto pub has left a dozen people injured, with three suspects still on the loose, according to local police. The incident occurred at 10:39 PM local time (03:39 GMT Saturday) near Scarborough city center in eastern Toronto.

Authorities confirmed that 12 people were hurt, including six with gunshot wounds, although none of the injuries are considered life-threatening. The victims, ranging in age from their 20s to mid-50s, were treated at the scene and taken to the hospital.

Police have identified three male suspects in the shooting. One of the suspects, wearing a black balaclava, was seen fleeing the scene in a silver car. Law enforcement is deploying all available resources to track down and arrest those responsible.

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow expressed concern over the shooting, stating, “I am deeply troubled to hear reports of a shooting at a pub in Scarborough. This is an early and ongoing investigation – police will provide further details. My thoughts are with the victims and their families.”

The number of injuries in this incident is notably high compared to previous shooting events in the area. In 2024, the same police division recorded eight people injured and two fatalities from shooting incidents.

With a population of 3 million, Toronto saw 43 gun-related deaths last year. While Canada’s firearm homicide rate is lower than that of the United States—0.6 per 100,000 people compared to the U.S.’s 4.5 per 100,000—this shooting highlights ongoing concerns about gun violence in the city.
