DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F), has accused the Supreme Court of “pressurizing” politicians instead of “uniting” them. This statement from the JUI-F chief comes as the ruling alliance tries to convince him to hold talks with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan, following the Supreme Court’s call for the government to negotiate with the PTI chief on elections.

Fazlur Rehman spoke to Private News Channel, stating that he disagrees with the rationale behind holding talks with Imran Khan at this time. He also questioned why the government should “give in” to the PTI chief and hold discussions with “someone who bankrupted the country.”

The president of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) also urged the Supreme Court to not show any disrespect to the Parliament’s decision on the release of funds for the Punjab elections. Additionally, he requested politicians to respectfully tell the Supreme Court that they trust them.

The JUI-F chief expressed his concern and shock at the current division in the Supreme Court, stating that they are pressuring politicians to unite rather than uniting them. He also urged the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to show no weakness in court.

During a recent press conference, Maulana Fazlur Rehman strongly criticized the Supreme Court, stating that he stands by every word he said.
