Pakistan’s coalition government is expected to present the federal budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 on June 10 after key coalition partners agreed to recommend the date to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during pre-budget consultations.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said the decision emerged from a meeting with Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and senior leaders of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). The discussions focused on fiscal priorities, development spending, and the government’s broader economic strategy for the coming year.

Participants reviewed proposals related to current and development expenditures, including the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), while also examining measures aimed at ensuring fiscal sustainability, public welfare, and inclusive economic growth.

The meeting unanimously recommended that the budget be presented on June 10, paving the way for final preparations ahead of the new fiscal year.

Among those attending were Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Naveed Qamar, Sherry Rehman, Saleem Mandviwalla, Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani, senior government advisers, Finance Secretary Imdadullah Bosal, FBR Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial, and other officials.

The consultations form part of ongoing efforts to finalize budget proposals while balancing fiscal discipline with economic development goals.
