Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar will visit Washington, D.C. on May 29 for important meetings with senior United States officials following the completion of his engagements at the United Nations in New York.
According to the Foreign Office, Dar is scheduled to meet US Secretary of State and National Security Advisor Marco Rubio to discuss bilateral relations and exchange views on key regional and global developments. The talks are also expected to focus on expanding cooperation in important sectors and Pakistan’s efforts to promote peace and stability through diplomacy and dialogue.
The Foreign Office said the visit reflects Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its long-standing partnership with the United States.
Before travelling to Washington, Dar attended a United Nations Security Council debate hosted by China under its rotating presidency. The session focused on maintaining international peace and strengthening the UN-centered global system.
During his stay in New York, Dar also met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Both leaders discussed recent regional developments, Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts for peace, and reaffirmed the strong strategic partnership between Pakistan and China.
