The federal and provincial governments have entrusted K-P Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur with the responsibility to spearhead talks with the now-proscribed Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) in order to address the unrest and uncertainty in the Khyber district. Gandapur recently arrived in Khyber district for negotiations, during which the PTM presented further demands. After hosting a grand jirga at the Chief Minister House in Peshawar, Gandapur has accepted the responsibility of holding and leading the negotiations for the peaceful resolution of the matter.

Various political figures, including PTM representative Mohsin Dawar, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Aimal Wali Khan, and others, participated in the jirga. The CM expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and emphasized the importance of finding a peaceful solution through dialogue. The talks also addressed the ban on PTM and the Pashtun Jirga, with a consensus to form a representative jirga to engage with PTM and the people present at the jirga grounds. Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi emphasized the urgency of negotiations for the peace and prosperity of the province, highlighting the need for unity to restore peace.
