K-P leaders urge engagement with Kabul

Political and religious leaders in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) have called on the federal government to engage with Afghanistan immediately to tackle terrorism.

During a meeting at the Chief Minister’s House, chaired by K-P Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, leaders emphasized that Pakistan’s peace is directly tied to stability in Afghanistan. They stressed the need for government-level negotiations with Afghanistan to address security concerns and agreed to collaborate in promoting religious harmony.

The meeting also recognized that ensuring peace is a top national priority. Participants highlighted the urgency of resolving the Kurram district issue, warning that if left unchecked, it could escalate from a regional problem to a national crisis. The role of the provincial government, particularly the chief minister, in handling the situation was highly praised.

There was a strong consensus on upholding the rule of law, ensuring constitutional supremacy, and protecting human rights. Leaders agreed that national reconciliation and political stability are key to the country’s peace, prosperity, and economic growth. To further this goal, a committee will be formed to initiate dialogue with all political parties.
