Local sources reported on Sunday that Russia bombed territories in eastern Ukraine overnight, ending a self-proclaimed Christmas ceasefire and vowing to continue fighting until it achieves triumph over its neighbour.

President Vladimir Putin declared a 36-hour cease-fire along the line of contact on Friday in order to commemorate Russia and Ukraine’s Orthodox Christmas, which fell on Saturday.

The truce had been rejected by Ukraine, and there was shelling along the frontier.

A 50-year-old man died as a consequence of Russian shelling in Kharkiv’s northeastern district, according to Oleh Sinehubov, the region’s governor, via the Telegram messaging app.

The Private news agency broke just after midnight in Moscow.
