The protest by Majlis-e-Wahdat Muslimeen (MWM) continued for the fifth consecutive day on Saturday, with a central sit-in held at Numaish Chowrangi in Karachi. The demonstration drew a large crowd of religious, political, and social leaders, further intensifying the disruption across the city.

Traffic in key areas such as Kala Chhapra, Sharea Faisal, M.A. Jinnah Road, Malir Kala Board, Sohrab Goth, Al Asif Square, and Abbas Town was severely affected, leading to massive jams. The protest brought vehicular movement to a standstill, including traffic to the upcountry, while the traffic police were absent in managing or rerouting vehicles.

Notable figures at the protest included former Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, PTI leader Mehmood Maulvi, MQM Pakistan leaders, lawyers, human rights activists, and other social figures. They gathered to show solidarity with the protestors, particularly addressing issues concerning the road blockade to Parachinar, which has lasted 80 days and led to numerous deaths, including 130 innocent children.

MWM leader Allama Hassan Zafar Naqvi, speaking at the sit-in, responded to Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab’s criticism of the protests. Naqvi accused Wahab of being appointed through a “fake mandate” and blamed him for not addressing the Parachinar road closure that has caused immense suffering. He expressed that the authorities were more focused on clearing protest roads than addressing the real issues affecting the people.

MQM leader Shabbir Qaimkhani voiced his party’s opposition to oppression and terrorism. He called for the immediate opening of the roads to Parachinar and vowed to raise the issue in the provincial assembly. Former Sindh Governor Imran Ismail also condemned the terrorist attacks on Parachinar, emphasizing that the entire nation must stand with the people of Parachinar against sectarianism.

Mehmood Maulvi, a leader from PTI, expressed deep sympathy for the victims of the Parachinar attacks, condemning the government’s inability to resolve the issue. He described the situation as a reflection of the incompetence of both the federal and provincial governments.

The sit-in, attended by several key political and religious figures, has highlighted the ongoing struggles of the people of Parachinar and the perceived failure of government authorities to provide relief.
