The Foreign Office of Pakistan has sent invitations to all member country heads of government, including the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, for the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of Government meeting. The meeting is scheduled to take place in Islamabad on October 15–16. However, due to strained relations between India and Pakistan, it is unlikely that Modi will attend the meeting in person. In the past, India has typically delegated a minister to represent the country at such meetings.
During the briefing, the Foreign Office spokesperson emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to the rights of the Kashmiri people and highlighted the UN Security Council resolutions regarding a plebiscite overseen by the UN as the mechanism for resolving the Jammu and Kashmir issue.
