Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has reaffirmed Pakistan Army’s commitment to expanding defence cooperation with the Lebanese Armed Forces, according to the military’s media wing.
The statement came after a meeting in Rawalpindi on Tuesday between Field Marshal Munir and Lebanese Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief General Rodolphe Haykal.
During the meeting, Field Marshal Munir highlighted the importance Pakistan places on its long-standing and friendly relations with Lebanon. Both sides discussed matters of mutual interest, the evolving regional security situation, and ways to enhance bilateral defence ties.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the two military leaders also agreed to deepen cooperation in training, professional exchanges, and institutional linkages between their armed forces.
General Haykal praised the professionalism and operational capabilities of the Pakistan Armed Forces, acknowledging their role in regional stability and international peacekeeping missions.
Reports suggest that General Haykal’s visit is also linked to broader regional diplomatic efforts involving Iran and the United States, as Lebanon continues to be seen as an important stakeholder in Middle East security discussions.
The visit comes amid ongoing tensions in the region, where multiple conflicts and negotiations continue to shape the security landscape.
