Pakistan believes it can persuade Iran to join upcoming talks with the United States, according to a senior government official who spoke to Reuters on Monday. The official said Islamabad has received encouraging signals from Tehran, though the situation is still evolving.
“We’ve had a positive response from Iran so far,” the source explained, adding that efforts are underway to ensure Iranian representatives attend the discussions, possibly within the next couple of days. The official noted that plans remain flexible as diplomatic coordination continues.
Pakistan is playing an active role in engaging both Tehran and Washington at a critical moment. With US President Donald Trump’s ceasefire deadline approaching, the urgency to bring all sides to the table has increased.
However, challenges remain. Iran has previously raised concerns about ongoing US actions, describing them as violations of the ceasefire that could hinder further diplomatic progress. These tensions make Pakistan’s mediation efforts more complex.
Still, Islamabad appears determined to act as a bridge between the two sides, hoping its involvement can help ease tensions and move negotiations forward at a delicate time for the region.
