On Wednesday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced that Pakistani security forces successfully carried out an intelligence-based operation in South Waziristan, resulting in the deaths of 13 terrorists. The operation occurred in the Sararogha area of the district.
According to a statement from ISPR, the troops effectively engaged terrorist positions, leading to the swift elimination of the militants. These individuals were reportedly involved in various attacks against security forces and the murder of innocent civilians.
A sanitization operation is now underway to ensure no additional militants are present in the area, as the Pakistani military remains committed to eradicating terrorism from the country.
This incident underscores the escalating security challenges faced in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, particularly along the Afghan border, which have seen a rise in attacks targeting law enforcement and military personnel.
In a separate incident on December 21, a group of terrorists attempted to assault a security forces check post in Makeen, South Waziristan, leading to the martyrdom of 16 soldiers. While the attack was thwarted, eight militants were killed in the ensuing firefight.
The frequency of terrorist attacks has surged since the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan, with KP and Balochistan being the most severely affected regions. Recent data indicates a staggering 90% increase in violence between July and September 2024, resulting in 722 deaths, including civilians, military personnel, and terrorists, marking a significant rise compared to previous years.
