Pakistani Leaders Reaffirm Commitment to Defend Sovereignty on Defence Day

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated their dedication to protecting Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity on the occasion of Pakistan’s Defence Day. This day, observed on September 6 each year, commemorates the defence of Pakistan against a surprise attack by numerically superior Indian armed forces in 1965. To honour the day, ceremonies such as a change of guards at significant sites took place, with leaders emphasizing the importance of peace and stability in the region.

President Zardari stressed the need to end the suffering of the Kashmiri people for lasting peace, while Prime Minister Sharif honoured the sacrifices of soldiers and pledged to uphold Pakistan’s values and work towards a brighter future for the country. Additionally, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif lauded the unity and bravery of the armed forces and the people on this historic day. Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Services Chiefs, and the Pakistan Armed Forces reiterated their resolute commitment to defending the country against all challenges.
