ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar will travel to Kuwait on Monday to offer condolences to the royal family, government, and people on the passing of Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah. This one-day visit signifies Pakistan’s deep sense of grief and solidarity with the nation during this time of mourning.
Prime Minister Kakar will convey heartfelt sympathies on behalf of the Pakistani government and people. To further express solidarity, Pakistan has declared Monday a day of mourning and will fly the national flag at half mast throughout the country.
Sheikh Nawaf, who ascended to the throne in 2020 at the age of 83, ruled for three years before his passing on Saturday. His reign was marked by both political complexities and personal health challenges. Nevertheless, he was respected for his commitment to Kuwait’s stability and prosperity.
International dignitaries, including US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Jordan’s King Abdullah, are expected to visit Kuwait to pay their respects. Meanwhile, regional leaders like Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and the UAE’s President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan have already offered condolences and pledged cooperation with the new Emir, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
Pakistan’s swift response and expression of deep sympathy highlight the strong bilateral ties between the two nations. This visit further underscores Pakistan’s commitment to fostering regional stability and unity in the wake of Emir Sheikh Nawaf’s passing.
