The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has unveiled its National Telecom Security Operations Center (NTSOC), a centralized platform designed to manage and address cybersecurity threats within the telecom industry.

The NTSOC has been established under the guidelines of the Pakistan National Cybersecurity Policy 2021 and the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA 2016), with the aim of safeguarding Pakistan’s critical telecom infrastructure and data from cyber-attacks.

As Pakistan’s first-ever sector-specific Security Operations Center, the NTSOC was launched following the issuance of the Cyber Security Policy. It comprises three primary components, namely Security Incident and Event Management (SIEM), Threat Intelligence, and Security Orchestration and Automated Response (SOAR). These elements have been specially customized to enhance the country’s cybersecurity status.

The NTSOC has been integrated with the SOCs of six telecom operators and the national Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT), ensuring prompt and effective incident response. Gradually, the remaining telecom operators will be integrated with the NTSOC as well.
