A division has emerged within the PTI over the decision to hold a protest at D-Chowk on Oct 15. Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Chief Minister KP Ali Ameen Gandapur, along with other members, are against the protest during the SCO summit. They argue that holding a protest while foreign dignitaries are attending the summit is not in the best interest of Pakistan.
On the other hand, some PTI members led by Shehbaz Gill, Hammad Azhar, Khalid Khurshid, and Hafiz Farhat are pushing for the protest. Salman Akram Raja has also supported this stance. However, others within the party, including Asad Qaiser, Hamid Khan, and Rauf Hasan, believe that the protest could have negative implications for Pakistan and should be called off.
Concerns have been raised about the potential impact of the protest on the SCO summit and the visiting foreign guests. Some PTI leaders are working to withdraw the protest call to avoid any incidents that could harm Pakistan’s reputation. They also acknowledge that many PTI supporters are unhappy with the decision to protest during the summit.
