The President immediately promoted Lt. Gen. Syed Asim Munir to the rank of General and appointed him as Chief of Army Staff.
The appointment as Chief of Army Staff will be effective from November 29, 2022
President Dr Arif Alvi immediately promoted Lt. Gen. Sahir Shamshad Mirza to the rank of General and appointed him as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee.
The appointment as Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee will be effective from 27 November 2022.
Promotions and appointments are made by the President under Article 243(a) and (b) of the Constitution, Article 48 and Sections 8a and 8d of the Pakistan Army Act, 1952.
The President signed the summary received today in this regard.
