Underwater Catastrophe: OceanGate Suspends Submersible Missions

[post-views]

OceanGate, the company behind the ill-fated submersible that collapsed while diving to the Titanic wreckage, has announced a halt to all of its operations.

In a statement posted on its official website on Thursday, OceanGate declared the suspension of all exploration and commercial activities.

Tragically, all five passengers onboard, including British explorer Hamish Harding, French submarine specialist Paul-Henri Nargeolet, and Pakistani-British entrepreneur Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman, were pronounced dead following the catastrophic collapse.

The disappearance of the Titan submersible was reported on June 18, and on June 22, the US Coast Guard confirmed that the vessel had suffered a devastating collapse, abruptly ending a globally watched rescue mission.

Among the casualties was Stockton Rush, the CEO of the company.

Last week, experts successfully retrieved presumed human remains from the sunken wreckage, which were then transported to the port of St John’s in Newfoundland, Canada.
