US Acting Under Secretary of State Visits Pakistan to Discuss Bilateral Cooperation

John Bass, the acting under-secretary of state for political affairs in the United States, visited Pakistan to discuss expanding cooperation on economic and security issues. During his visit, he met with officials in Islamabad to talk about countering terrorism and violent extremism, fostering regional stability and prosperity, and Pakistan’s cooperation in assisting Afghans in resettlement pathways to the United States. The visit comes after the US announced taking action against entities and individuals involved in the proliferation of ballistic missiles and controlled missile equipment and technology in Pakistan.

Additionally, Bass held discussions with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch on various aspects of bilateral relations, including trade, energy, security, health, climate change, and counter-terrorism. Both sides expressed the desire to strengthen and stabilize the economy and upgrade bilateral mechanisms in economic and defense fields.
