Maulana Fazal Ur Rehman is at a critical juncture in his political life. He is faced with a decision that could significantly impact the future of Pakistani politics. On one hand, he could forge a new political alliance with PTI, his long-standing rival. On the other hand, he could align with the familiar faces of PDM. Each path presents its own set of potential benefits and risks. The question is, which path should Maulana choose?
His political ambition has been to become Pakistan’s president or prime minister. Can PDM offer it? Nearly not. In PDM, the PMLN is the main snatcher, followed by PPP. Therefore, if the PM is from PMLN, the president will be from PPP. Then, there is MQM, which is third in number and may not be in quality. JUIF stands far behind in claiming the presidency for Maulana from the PDM government.

However, he can negotiate it with PTI, which is in dire strait and looking for JUIF street power and a strong partner. PTI can also offer Maulana the presidency if the latter joins PTI ranks in outnumbering the proposed constitutional amendment and overthrowing the PDM government. Let’s wait and see! How Maulana plays his cards. Will it be a present bounty or that of the future with a more significant stature of the presidency with its uncertain probability? Lastly, the political pundits know that Maulana Fazal Ur Rahman will decide it on merit rather than ideological, political or constitutional considerations. Lastly, it will be a great challenge for PTI and JUIF to trust each other.
