A recent report by Lahore’s City Traffic Police (CTP) has revealed that over 3,800 official government vehicles, primarily used by senior bureaucrats and police officers, have repeatedly violated traffic laws in the city. These include vehicles assigned to the IGP Punjab, Lahore Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, and directors of key departments such as FIA, Agriculture, Lesco, Health, and the Punjab Food Authority.

The report noted that Punjab Police vehicles topped the list with 496 violations, followed by the Services & General Administration Department (358) and Lesco (328). One vehicle used by an SP racked up 107 violations, while another assigned to the Agriculture DG had 83, both with thousands of rupees in unpaid fines.

Despite repeated violations, no fines have been paid by these departments. A total of 73 government departments were involved, including Wapda, PTCL, SNGPL, Pakistan Railways, and LDA.

The findings came through Safe City camera surveillance, and the CTO Athar Waheed has alerted Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman and IGP Dr. Usman Anwar, urging action. In contrast, over 4,500 FIRs were registered against citizens for traffic violations in just 10 days, many resulting in arrests.
