India’s Dangerous Rhetoric Threatens Regional Peace

[post-views]

Pakistan on Monday strongly condemned recent statements made by Indian officials, calling them a clear sign of a hostile and reckless mindset that jeopardizes regional peace and stability.

The Foreign Office issued this response after an Indian Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, on May 29, asserted that dialogue on Kashmir could only occur if Pakistan “hands over Azad Jammu and Kashmir” to India—an assertion Islamabad categorically rejected.

Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan said blaming Pakistan for regional unrest is not only unfounded but also a deliberate distortion of facts. “The world has witnessed India’s aggressive actions, including credible reports of its support for terrorism inside Pakistan,” he noted.

Khan stressed that such tactics cannot mask India’s real conduct, nor can they distract from the pressing issue of Jammu and Kashmir, which remains a central flashpoint threatening peace in South Asia.

He reiterated that Pakistan stands firm on its principled stance—that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute must be resolved in line with the UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

“These inflammatory statements highlight the limits of coercion and hyper-nationalism,” Khan added, warning that threats and belligerence will not help India realize its objectives.

While reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to peaceful dialogue and regional cooperation, Khan made it clear that Pakistan will not compromise on its sovereignty or territorial integrity.

He concluded by emphasizing that lasting peace in South Asia can only be achieved through seriousness, mutual restraint, and a genuine willingness to address the root causes of conflict—chief among them, the unresolved Kashmir issue.
