The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted widespread rainfall and thunderstorms across the country, warning of flash floods in hilly areas and urban flooding in major cities including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Karachi.

The monsoon system, active from June to September, has started with moist currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal, along with a westerly wave impacting the upper regions.

Rainfall is expected in Azad Kashmir, KP, Punjab, Islamabad, parts of Sindh, and Balochistan. The PMD reported heavy rain in several areas over the past 24 hours, with Malam Jabba and Kasur receiving the highest levels.

Authorities warn of landslides, infrastructure damage, and disruption in daily life due to strong winds, lightning, and heavy downpours. Punjab is expected to receive 25% more monsoon rain this year, and emergency measures are in place.
