WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has issued a stark ultimatum to Hamas, demanding that the group accept his Gaza peace plan by Sunday evening or face what he described as “all Hell” breaking out. Writing on social media, Trump said the deadline is 6:00 P.M. Washington D.C. time, stressing that every major country has endorsed the plan.
The 20-point plan calls for an immediate ceasefire, the exchange of Hamas-held hostages for Palestinians detained in Israel, a phased Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, and the disarmament of Hamas. It also envisions a transitional government led by an international body. However, Hamas officials told Reuters that discussions are ongoing with Arab mediators, Turkey, and Palestinian factions to finalize a response.
Trump, frustrated at the lack of progress, labeled Hamas a “ruthless and violent threat” and warned that remaining fighters in Gaza would be “hunted down and killed” if no agreement is reached. He further urged “innocent Palestinians” to leave for unspecified safe areas. Meanwhile, Pakistan criticized the plan, saying it does not align with the proposals of Muslim countries.
