ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have praised Pakistan’s security forces for successfully thwarting terrorist attacks in Gwadar, Balochistan, during operations that resulted in the killing of 10 terrorists.
In separate statements, both leaders commended the courage, professionalism and operational capabilities of security personnel, acknowledging their efforts to prevent the attacks and protect public safety.
The president and prime minister also expressed profound grief over the death of a civilian in the attacks. They offered prayers for the deceased and extended condolences to the bereaved family, expressing hope that they would find strength and patience during this difficult time.
President Reaffirms Commitment to Peace in Balochistan
President Zardari said attempts to undermine peace and stability in Balochistan would not weaken the determination of its people to pursue development and prosperity.
He emphasised that maintaining peace across the province was essential for safeguarding the rights, security and interests of its residents.
The president also strongly condemned what he described as the exploitation of the dignity of Baloch women for political purposes.
His remarks highlighted the government’s stated commitment to maintaining stability in Balochistan while protecting the rights and welfare of its population.
Prime Minister Vows Continued Counterterrorism Operations
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated the government’s determination to eliminate terrorism, describing militant violence as a major obstacle to Balochistan’s development.
He said the militants referred to by the government as Fitna Al-Hindustan would not succeed in achieving their objectives.
The prime minister reaffirmed that counterterrorism operations under the Azm-e-Istehkam initiative would continue with full intensity to address security threats and dismantle terrorist networks.
He also emphasised national solidarity with the armed forces and law enforcement agencies, stating that the entire nation stood alongside security personnel in efforts to eliminate what he described as foreign-sponsored terrorism.
The statements from the country’s civilian leadership reaffirmed official support for ongoing counterterrorism operations and underscored the government’s position that security and stability remain essential to Balochistan’s long-term development.
