The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Turkey’s Constitutional Court to enhance judicial cooperation. The ceremony in Islamabad was attended by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi and Turkish Constitutional Court President Kadir Özkaya.
CJP Afridi said the agreement would foster the exchange of judicial knowledge, promote comparative constitutional jurisprudence, strengthen institutional ties, and support capacity-building through joint programs, research, and judicial exchanges. A joint working group of judges from both courts will ensure that the collaboration remains substantive.
He emphasized that the MoU reflects the historic fraternal ties between Pakistan and Turkey and represents a shared commitment to uphold constitutional governance, judicial independence, and fundamental rights.
The cooperation will also focus on professional development at the district judiciary level and the integration of modern technologies to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accessibility. During the visit, the Turkish delegation will engage with key justice sector stakeholders in Pakistan.
