Zardari, PM Review Budget Plans and National Security Ahead of FY27 Budget

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a high-level meeting at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Monday to discuss national security, the upcoming federal budget, regional developments, and other key national issues ahead of the FY2026-27 budget announcement.

The meeting was attended by senior government officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, and Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah.

According to an official statement, participants reviewed Pakistan’s economic situation, budget proposals for the next fiscal year, recent elections in Gilgit-Baltistan, developments in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and the overall law and order situation.

President Zardari stressed that the upcoming budget should focus on public welfare, economic stability, and the protection of provincial rights. He emphasized that economic growth targets must be linked with social welfare measures to ensure broader benefits for citizens.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi briefed the meeting on his recent visit to Iran and ongoing regional diplomatic efforts. Several Pakistan Peoples Party leaders and regional political figures also attended the discussions held days before the federal budget presentation.
