Trump Says Iran Talks Making Headway as Tehran Confirms Limited Progress

[post-views]

US President Donald Trump has expressed optimism about ongoing negotiations with Iran, saying meaningful progress has been made toward a preliminary agreement aimed at ending tensions between the two countries.

On the Iranian side, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei confirmed that important parts of a potential ceasefire framework have been agreed upon. However, he cautioned against suggestions that a final deal is close, stressing that key issues remain unresolved.

Baghaei also criticised what he described as inconsistent US policies and continued pressure on Iran, making it clear that Tehran’s participation in the talks has not altered its fundamental positions. He dismissed reports claiming that a comprehensive agreement had already been reached and insisted that Iran would not compromise on its core principles.

The comments from Washington and Tehran indicate that negotiations are moving forward, but significant differences remain. While the United States appears eager to highlight progress and move toward a conclusion, Iran maintains that the most challenging aspects of the discussions have yet to be settled.
