Pakistan’s dilemma is that it has too much politicized national discourse. On TV shows during prime times, political leaders are invited not to discuss policy but politics. There’s hardly any talk on governance and reforms.

The institution also believes that no reform will be successful without reforming the civil service of Pakistan. Pakistan, today celebrating its 79th birthday, still living with colonial-era administration and governance setup. In Pakistan, the bureaucracy controls 67% of the economy through permissions, licenses, and NOCs. This gatekeeping function clearly erodes the entrepreneurial spirit of the economy.
