CTD Arrests 23 Suspected Terrorists in Punjab Operations

LAHORE: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) said on Saturday that it had arrested 23 suspected terrorists, including a man it identified as an operative of India’s intelligence agency, RAW, during 158 intelligence-based operations across Punjab.

According to a CTD spokesperson, the operations initially led to 160 people being taken into custody. Following investigations, 23 suspects were arrested, including the alleged RAW operative apprehended in Sahiwal. The remaining 22 were said to be associated with banned organisations.

The operations took place in Attock, Multan, Sahiwal, Jhelum, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Khushab, Mianwali, Bahawalpur, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Rawalpindi and Bhakkar.

The spokesperson said 22 cases had been registered under terrorism-related charges. CTD teams also reported recovering 5,140 kilograms of explosive material, seven improvised explosive devices, 26 detonators, safety fuse wire, five banned magazines, six mobile phones and cash.
