The Political Perfect Storm: How Pakistan’s Economic Crisis is Complicating Matters
The political landscape in Pakistan is constantly shifting, and the recent dissolution of the Punjab Assembly has many speculating about the possibility of early elections. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, along with the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q), were able to successfully push for the dissolution, which has led to speculation that they may also push for early general elections (GE). This could prove to be a major advantage for the PTI, as they would likely win the majority of seats in by-elections in both Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) provinces.
