In a violent clash near Miranshah, seven alleged terrorists met their demise after attacking officials from the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) who were transporting a group of arrested criminals. According to a CTD spokesperson, the assailants opened fire on the officials during the transportation of the criminals to Bannu from Miranshah. The attackers killed three of the criminals, while four of the assailants were shot dead in an exchange of fire with the law enforcers. The remaining attackers took advantage of the darkness to escape.
The spokesperson added that the terrorists belonged to a defunct militant organization and were responsible for grenade attacks and targeted killings of security forces. CTD officials also recovered short machine guns, cartridges, and other illegal weapons from the crime scene. The suspects were allegedly attempting to secure the release of their arrested accomplices.
Moreover, the slain terrorists were involved in a grenade attack at the Cantonment police station and the targeted killing of police constable Iftikhar. Security forces and police have launched a search operation to locate and apprehend the suspects involved.
