Stephen Fry lands hosting gig for UK version of Jeopardy!

Stephen Fry, the popular English actor, broadcaster, comedian, director, and writer, is set to host the UK version of the hit US entertainment show Jeopardy! which will be airing on ITV1 and ITVX streaming platform in the upcoming fall.

According to ITV, the show will provide a nostalgic experience for fans of the original format while introducing the family quiz show to a new audience. Produced by Whisper North, the hour-long episodes will feature contestants testing their general knowledge to win rounds and stay in the game. Compared to the original format, the new show will allow participants to play an additional round, increasing the stakes for the players.

Jeopardy! first came to screens in the UK in the 1980s, but now, Stephen Fry and ITV are set to give it a modern twist. Speaking about hosting the show in the UK, Fry said: “Jeopardy! is a phenomenon like no other in the United States. Whenever I’m in America, I do my damnedest to catch it every weekday. The idea of hosting it here in the UK makes me dizzy with delight. I hope our dedicated quizzing nation will welcome this uniquely beguiling and endlessly rewarding game.”

ITV Head of Entertainment, Katie Rawcliffe, stated that bringing Jeopardy! to a new audience as part of their weekday schedule is an exciting venture. She added that Stephen Fry, with his knowledge and entertainment skills, is the perfect host for this classic game show, and will be able to entertain all viewers.
