The Punjab government has granted more than 45,000 acres of land to the Pakistan Army for a joint venture project called “Corporate Agriculture Farming” in order to increase crop yields and ensure food self-sufficiency, according to a report by The Republic Policy News.
The project will be implemented in phases on government land in the Bhakkar, Khushab and Sahiwal districts.
The army will only play a management role, while the ownership of the land will remain with the provincial government, and the military will not receive any profits or revenue share. The army’s involvement in the project is aimed at enhancing agricultural production, which is considered the easiest way to improve the country’s economic prospects.
