Sparks fly as Chief Justice greets Imran Khan

Amidst the arrest and appearance of former prime minister Imran Khan before the Supreme Court, Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial’s remarks have ignited a fiery debate across the country.

While the federal cabinet strongly condemns CJP Bandial’s greeting of Khan, accusing it of tarnishing the image of justice, the chief justice defends it as a customary practice within the court.

In an effort to clarify his demeanor, CJP Bandial, during a recent case hearing, extended the same greeting to lawyer Asghar Sabzwari, who had returned after a lengthy absence.

Stressing the significance of respect and courtesy, the chief justice emphasized that he greets everyone in a similar manner, facing criticism for his interaction with Khan.

“I believe in upholding respect and politeness for all individuals,” CJP Bandial asserted, highlighting the importance of these attributes. “Without them, the experience loses its essence.”
