Foreign Minister’s Quip: Don’t Let Terrorism Fall Victim to Geopolitics

In a joint declaration by the United States and India that mentions Pakistan, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari responded, urging Islamabad not to feel “vulnerable” while cautioning major powers against making “terrorism a casualty of geopolitics.”

During his address to the National Assembly, Bilawal conveyed that the Foreign Office would release a “comprehensive policy statement” regarding the recent US-India joint declaration. However, he shared some noteworthy observations on the matter in the lower house of parliament.

The nation’s foremost diplomat addressed the parliamentarians, emphasizing the importance of Pakistan distancing itself from global politics and focusing on its internal affairs.

He further stated that once political stability and economic challenges are overcome, Pakistan can effectively pursue its “global objectives.”

“I firmly believe there is no reason for Pakistan to harbor insecurities about its international relationships or its bilateral partnership with America, given the growing cooperation between the US and India,” expressed the foreign minister. He reiterated that Pakistan has stood on its own in the past and continues to do so today.
