European Union and UN Condemn Blatant Quran Desecration in Stockholm

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The desecration of the Holy Quran in the heart of Stockholm, protected by authorities, has drawn condemnation from the European Union and the UN Alliance of Civilisations (UNAOC).

A shocking incident unfolded in Sweden’s capital as Salwan Momika, a resident of Iraqi origin, brazenly stomped on the sacred book and set ablaze several pages, right in front of the city’s largest mosque. The timing couldn’t have been more distressing, as it occurred on the auspicious first day of Eid ul Adha.

While Swedish police had initially granted Momika a permit under the umbrella of free speech, authorities quickly launched an investigation into what they deemed as “agitation.”

The Swedish government, appalled by this “despicable act,” expressed their strong condemnation of this Islamophobic incident perpetrated by individuals within the country.

In an official statement, Sweden’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs made it unequivocally clear that this abhorrent act does not align with the government’s stance or represent the collective opinion of the nation.
