EVESHAM, Worcestershire: A beauty therapist, Lisa Fletcher, aged 46 and residing in Evesham, Worcestershire, is sharing her unfortunate experience to caution fellow social media users about online scams, particularly on Facebook Marketplace, after she was conned out of £3,600.
Fletcher’s ordeal unfolded when she came across an alluring listing for a pre-built shipping container office on the popular e-commerce platform, Facebook Marketplace. Feeling confident after engaging in messages and phone calls with the seller, she proceeded to transfer the requested amount of £3,600. The scammer provided seemingly authentic invoices and business-headed documents, leaving Fletcher with no reason to doubt the legitimacy of the transaction.
However, the promised garden office never materialized, leaving Fletcher not only out of pocket by £3,600 but also dealing with financial setbacks, including lost earnings and the additional expenses of acquiring and converting another container.
