Iranian Foreign Minister Hussain Amir Abdullah arrived in Pakistan this morning on the invitation of Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani.
Upon arrival at Noor Khan Airbase, the Iranian Foreign Minister was received by the Additional Secretary (Afghanistan and West Asia) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rahim Hayat Qureshi.
According to a Foreign Office statement, during the visit, the Iranian Foreign Minister will hold talks with Pakistani Foreign Minister Jilani and meet Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar.
The high-level visit came after the two countries announced in their joint press statement on January 22 that the ambassadors of the two countries would return to their respective posts and the Iranian foreign minister would visit Islamabad.
Meanwhile, Iran has condoled with Pakistan over the death of nine of its workers on its soil.
In his statement, the Iranian envoy to Pakistan condemned the killing of Pakistani workers in Iran and said that Tehran and Islamabad will not tolerate harming the relations between the two countries.
The Iranian ambassador said in his statement that Iran and Pakistan will not allow enemies to harm the brotherly relations.
