PM Shehbaz Sharif, in a significant interview with Al Arabiya English, underscored the progress made in the recent diplomatic and trade-related engagements between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. He highlighted that both countries have identified areas of mutual cooperation, including investments in the field of mines and minerals as well as renewable energy. The premier’s interview, a testament to the importance of the topic and the credibility of the source, comes after he assured his government’s blanket support to the Saudi investment, enabling the investors and businessmen to accomplish their future projects in Pakistan expeditiously with joint ventures. 

PM Shehbaz also reiterated that it was not the government’s job to do business but to offer policy frameworks, act as a catalyst, and remove all the hurdles for the speedy achievement of economic targets. He termed Pakistan’s ties with Saudi Arabia “historic” and said that the brotherly relations span “centuries”, with both countries remaining partners in the progress and prosperity in the region. 

After starting his new term as the country’s chief executive, the premier spoke about his maiden visit to the kingdom. He also mentioned the visits made by the Saudi government and business delegations further to strengthen diplomatic and trade ties between both nations. He termed his meetings with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman as “positive” and the recently held Pak-Saudi investment conference as “very productive and fruitful”. 

PM Shehbaz shared his government’s vision for economic stability, mentioning his recent visit to the kingdom to attend the World Economic Forum meeting, in which the discussions revolved around increasing agricultural production in Pakistan with the help of modern equipment and technology. He also highlighted that both countries will work towards training Pakistani youth in various fields with joint cooperation, after which the skilled workers will be able to work in the kingdom, which will help improve Pakistan’s economy. 

Finally, PM Shehbaz, underscoring the proactive stance of his government, said that under the leadership of Mohammed Bin Salman, the two sides can bring about a global economic revolution. He acknowledged that Pakistan was currently facing a major economic crisis and that his government, with a solid commitment to progress, was focused on improving the country’s economy and introducing reforms in various sectors. The premier’s interview highlights the continued cooperation and partnership between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia in various sectors and the efforts to strengthen their bilateral relations even further.
