The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) is gearing up for the upcoming second session of the ninth meeting of the new Executive Committee (EC) on May 14, 2024. The meeting, which will be held at the Prime Minister’s Office and presided over by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, promises to be a game-changer in steering the country towards progress and prosperity.
The EC has an extensive agenda featuring a broad range of critical issues impacting the oil and gas sector, mining, finance, FBR digitization, power, privatization, commerce, and industries. Realizing the significance of these issues, the EC aims to provide practical solutions and devise a comprehensive strategy to address them.
The meeting will facilitate discussion on pertinent matters, including the greenfield refinery project, upgradation of brownfield refineries, IP gas pipeline project, TAPI gas pipeline project, and sustainable coal utilization policy. Furthermore, the EC will provide updates and recommendations on critical issues such as exploration and production (E&P) policy and regulatory interventions, differential payment for the supply of RLNG to two fertilizer plants, and the Energas terminal, among others.
The EC will also discuss updates on the Reko Diq project, the harmonization/regulatory framework of minerals sector, and the establishment of mining fund-water resources sector. Additionally, the meeting will cover updates from the Ministry of Finance, FBR digitization, Power Division, Ministry of Privatization, Commerce Ministry, and Ministry of Industries.
The provincial governments of Punjab, KP, Sindh, and Balochistan will also provide updates on assigned tasks, further highlighting the government’s commitment to ensuring the country’s overall development.
Lastly, the upcoming EC meeting promises to be a significant milestone in addressing critical issues impacting the country’s progress. As a nation, we need to support the government’s efforts to devise and implement practical solutions to these challenges. We are confident that through these efforts, Pakistan will continue on its path of progress and prosperity.
