In response, despite a valiant effort by Bangladesh, they fell just short, reaching 109-7 at the conclusion of their innings. The tension rose as Mahmuddulah lost his wicket to the penultimate ball of the match, getting caught at long-on while attempting to hit a six for the much-needed victory.
This crucial win has propelled South Africa to the top of the group standings, amassing six points and positioning themselves within touching distance of advancing to the Super Eights stage. On the other hand, Bangladesh currently occupies the second spot in the group, with one win from two games. Their first victory came against Sri Lanka in Dallas during their opening fixture.
