During the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan criticized India’s policies in occupied Kashmir and accused New Delhi of sponsoring terrorism against Pakistan. He denounced India’s actions in Kashmir and warned of a decisive response to any Indian aggression. In response, the Indian delegate dismissed the accusations, calling Kashmir an internal matter and accusing Pakistan of supporting cross-border terrorism.
The Pakistani delegate rebutted the Indian claims, stating that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed territory and accusing India of repression and human rights violations. The Pakistani delegate also accused India of using terrorism as state policy and highlighted India’s treatment of its minorities. In conclusion, the Pakistani delegate called on India to end its “state-sponsored terrorism,” cease its illegal occupation of Kashmir, and fulfil its international obligations.
