The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly and unequivocally condemned the violent attack on the Pakistani consulate in Frankfurt, Germany, which endangered the lives of the consulate’s staff. The attack, carried out by a group of extremists during a protest by Afghan citizens, was a clear violation of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, 1963.
The Ministry criticized the German authorities for their failure to protect the sanctity of the consular premises and the security of the diplomats, as mandated by international law. Pakistan demands immediate action from the German government to apprehend and prosecute those involved in the attack, and to ensure the safety of Pakistani diplomatic missions and staff in Germany. This incident underscores the urgent need for all host governments to uphold their responsibilities in safeguarding diplomatic missions. Pakistan expects the German government to address these grave security lapses without delay.
