Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir has issued a stern message to terrorists, urging them to surrender to the state if they seek any form of mercy. In a recent interaction with university students, General Munir emphasized that those involved in terrorism and mischief, referred to as “Khawarij” or extremists, must lay down their arms and submit to the law if they wish to receive forgiveness.
Referring to the Holy Quran, the army chief highlighted divine instructions regarding the punishment for those who spread “Fasad” (mischief) and create unrest. He stated that such individuals should be punished in this world, and they would face divine retribution in the hereafter. “Those who create mischief should be killed, hanged, or have their organs cut off and be expelled from the land,” General Munir quoted from the Quran, while also emphasizing that repentance and seeking forgiveness (Tauba) could lead to God’s mercy.
He made it clear that Pakistan is currently engaged in a battle against the Khawarij, groups that misinterpret Islam for their own violent agenda. “These extremists have no connection to true Islam. They twist its teachings for their own perverse ideologies, and such authority does not belong to them,” General Munir said.
The army chief also expressed his strong commitment to defending women’s rights, stressing that no one could strip women of their rights in Pakistan. “Islam is the first religion to grant rights and respect to women—whether as mothers, daughters, sisters, or wives—and we will never allow this extremist group to impose their twisted values on our society,” he added.
During the interaction, General Munir expressed his appreciation for engaging with the youth of Pakistan, recognizing their importance in the nation’s future. He stressed that as long as the nation stands united behind the Pakistan Army, particularly its youth, the armed forces would remain strong. “The spirit of sacrifice and unity will keep us resilient,” he stated.
He also highlighted the unity within the Pakistan Army, emphasizing that soldiers fight as one, with no regard for regional or ethnic differences. “Our identity is Pakistaniat, and this unity is what makes us strong,” General Munir concluded.
